The Problem

Natural disasters such as earthquakes are common in countries
that sit on the pacific plate boundary, the area known as the
‘Ring of Fire’. As of late, natural disasters have become more frequent and intense. Though these countries have adapted
damage mitigation strategies and architectural designs, the same cannot be said to the countries outside the disaster hotspots.

The Purpose

Australia is a country that sits inside a tectonic plate and therefore, Australian buildings are not designed with disaster proofing in mind. However, with the rising temperatures, natural disasters have
become more frequent and more damaging. In the case of an
intense earthquake, Australian architecture may not be able to withstand the disaster.

The original project was created as a passion project combining my love of  environmental science and design. This text was later reformatted using the typography and layout ‘rules’ to enhance readability and aesthetics.
